Smiles

It has been a joy to see the relationship develop between these two. It's clear that they love each other very much. Hudson excitedly told me this morning that he had taught her how to play trains and she did it right and now she could play with him when she was older. He was so proud of her and so excited about the idea of sharing his love of trains with her.

Our Hudson - he's growing up too fast!

Livia turned 18 months old on Friday. She is getting more independent - playing by herself and trying to get her own snacks - but has also turned into quite a snuggler. When she was little she really didn't like to be held, but now she gives hugs and snuggles up (although only for short periods at at time - too many things to do!). She is starting to talk a lot - she probably has 10 words, although some of them are multi-purpose words (cracker and quack quack sound a lot a like). She keeps us smiling around here and I look forward to watching her continue to develop in the days and years ahead.

She loves sitting or standing in these baskets....she's getting a bit too big and almost gets stuck now.

This makes me laugh - her cheesy smile

Who knew baskets could be such fun?

New Photos

Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks around here.....

The lighting is not so great on this one (it's sunshine!! can't complain about that)
but I love her little expression.

Snack time - some apple slices and plastic cake, delicious

I crocheted this had for Livia quite a while ago but she never wants to keep a hat on her head. The other evening she asked to wear it so I took the opportunity to get a couple pictures.

"How do I look?"

Hudson is into building "forts" with the pillows lately

Livia got this baby stroller for her birthday but couldn't walk at the time and then the last time I got it out she just wanted to climb in - now she's discovered what fun it is to push her baby around....it's super cute. :)

Our Little Reader

When school started this past fall Hudson and I started going through this book - "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons". This week we finished lesson 100! I must admit there were a few tears (Hudson) and some unhappy voices (Mommy) and some general frustration on many of the days, but we made it through successfully. Hudson now has a very strong grasp on reading and I would definitely recommend this program to others.

Pirates & Fairies

Our kids have been fighting some kind of nasty flu/virus/whatever-they're-sick. Hudson had a high fever for 5 days along with a nasty cough and runny nose. Then, as an added bonus, on Tuesday morning he woke up with his left eyelid so swollen he couldn't open his eye. Apparently it's just somehow related to the virus. He was pretty wiped out on Tuesday but has gradually been getting back to himself - today his eye is almost back to normal. I told him that he looked like a pirate with just the one eye open...but he informed me that he was not.

He got a look at himself in the mirror on Tuesday and when I asked him what he thought he said, "hmmm...I like it!" Boys. Fortunately it was not painful for him - I think we were far more concerned about it than he was.

On a lighter note, I thought it'd be fun for Livia to sport her tutu for a bit today. She tried to take it off and ended up with it around her shoulders instead of her waist so she now looks more like a fairy than a ballerina. Either way, pretty cute - and such a poser.

Holiday Fun

A couple of our pre-Christmas activities -

Livia & Hudson all bundled up at the Lighted Christmas parade downtown

My husband (who claimed he was freezing the whole time) along with Jacob & Debbie who joined us for the parade.

Waiting for Christmas cookies to finish baking

Helping to clean up after baking

Livia got in on the clean up action as well.

Musical Kids

I like to think that my kids will be musical since I like to think of myself as musical....We'll see how their current talents develop as they get older. :)

Hudson mastered "Away in the Manger" this Christmas season

One of Livia's favorite things to do right now is to climb up on the piano bench and "play" the piano. I think she's pretty cute!
